While exploring kitchen gadgets on Amazon, you might come across various solutions for even the slightest of inconveniences, such as dealing with stale snacks. Popular electric bag sealers from brands like Comtar and HSLGOVE are abundant on the platform, along with a well-known generic model that’s labeled with an extensive list of keywords instead of a brand name (we’ll call this the “generic model” from here on). The question remains: Which of these models delivers the best results?
YouTuber Scott Wilson put these three options through rigorous testing, and the generic model surprisingly outshined its branded counterparts. In a series of frantic, intense tests designed to challenge the limits of food sealing, the generic device claimed victory. Both Comtar and HSLGOVE ended up faltering at even the simplest tasks, ranking last and second-to-last, respectively.
Intense stress tests revealed the limitations of all three models
The three bag sealers were put through their paces using commonplace household items such as bags of chips, loaves of bread, tortillas, candy, peanuts, and even juice pouches. The models from Comtar and HSLGOVE struggled dramatically in nearly all tests. They frequently produced weak seals or failed entirely, resulting in seals that were far from airtight. In contrast, the generic sealer showed more consistent performance: while not perfect, it often achieved better results than either Comtar or HSLGOVE. Impressively, it even managed to reseal a juice pouch!
To gauge the durability of the generic model, Wilson escalated the testing to assess how well each device held under pressure. He filled bags with both wet and dry noodles, cereal (both with and without milk), and even tested them against extreme conditions – the types of stress tests that are best witnessed firsthand. The generic model held up far better than anticipated, a commendable performance for kitchen gadgets, though it wasn’t necessarily superior to a standard chip clip.
