For those in search of the rarest modern Cadillac, the Celestiq easily fits the bill. This custom-designed electric sedan carries a price tag of over $300,000 and certainly isn’t a mass-market model like the Escalade. However, if you’re interested in a rare Cadillac that was available for more ordinary buyers at the time, the 2019-2020 CT6-V emerges as a strong candidate.
The CT6-V, as indicated by its name, is a performance-enhanced version of the CT6, boasting impressive power and a unique engine arrangement that differentiates it from other Cadillac V-series models.
While the standard CT6 wasn’t particularly noteworthy beyond its status as a rare American sedan, it featured a 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 335 horsepower in its final production year, which shares its lineage with the last generation of the Chevy Camaro.
Big, Powerful, and Lavish
The real excitement with the CT6-V comes from its twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8 engine, known as the “Blackwing.” This engine was exclusive to the CT6-V model, and you might already associate the Blackwing name with the high-performance CT5-V Blackwing that features a well-known 6.2-liter supercharged V8.
This initial version of the Blackwing engine in the CT6-V produced an impressive 550 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, making it remarkably quick for a family-oriented sedan. The vehicle featured a 10-speed automatic transmission (there was no manual gearbox available) and standard all-wheel drive, adding to its allure. Inside, you could expect luxurious Cadillac-level appointments.
With a starting price of $95,890 in its final production year of 2020, the CT6-V might seem steep, but it’s not drastically different from other high-end models like the Escalade, which can exceed six figures depending on configurations (including a V-series variant). Today, used models of the 2019 and 2020 CT6-V can be found ranging between $60,000 and $70,000.
Luckily for enthusiasts, Cadillac still offers some thrilling sedans, namely the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing, ready to deliver speed for those willing to invest.
