In an age where on-demand streaming has become the norm for many viewers, the demand for live TV persists. Numerous services provide live television streaming, and Roku has recently streamlined access to live broadcasts without any cost. This is achieved through a new feature integrated into the Roku Live TV app: a search function. No longer will users need to scroll endlessly through numerous Roku TV channels to locate a particular show; now, they can simply enter their desired program in the search bar.
This enhancement was included in the March 2026 update of Roku Live TV and is user-friendly. To utilize it, open the Roku Live TV app, select the Live Guide located on the left side of the interface, and input your search criteria. Whether you’re searching broadly for a genre or specifically for a favorite channel, results will populate in real time as you type. You can search using either the Roku on-screen keyboard or voice commands with a compatible remote. This feature comes at an opportune time, especially following a recent expansion of Roku’s live TV channel offerings.
The search feature is ideal for discovering both classic and contemporary Roku Live TV channels
While the introduction of the Roku Live TV search feature is certainly a thrilling improvement, it is not the only recent update of note. In February, Roku Live TV introduced an additional 17 new channels, broadening the range of viewing options available to users. Naturally, as these channels are free for Roku device holders, they are supported by advertisements, similar to numerous other channels on the platform.
During February, numerous new channels were made available on Roku Live TV. This includes channels dedicated to popular series like “The Bernie Mac Show,” “Felicity,” and “Blossom,” along with news channels such as “CTV News” and “CNN Xpress,” and those featuring international content like “Filmex Accion” and “Filmed Comedia.” There is even a channel specifically for “Pokémon,” and with the new search function, discovering these channels is quicker and easier than ever.
The implementation of the search feature marks a meaningful advance for Roku Live TV, eliminating the previously lengthy process of manually scrolling through channels. At this rate, the free app is positioning itself among the top contenders in the realm of non-Netflix streaming services available on Roku devices.
