While the electric vehicle (EV) market has experienced significant changes following the U.S. government’s decision to eliminate the $7,500 tax credit in 2025—resulting in a $1.6 billion loss for General Motors—EVs continue to hold a substantial position in the automotive landscape. If you have contemplated purchasing a new vehicle in recent years, it’s likely that you’ve considered an EV. In that case, you may have consulted resources like consumer reports from JD Power to guide your decision-making.
JD Power is recognized for conducting comprehensive assessments of various products, including appliances, electronics, traditional cars, and EVs. Recently, they unveiled their 2026 EV customer satisfaction survey, revealing that Ford surprisingly secured the top position in the mass-market category, with the Mustang Mach-E claiming the honor.
The Mustang Mach-E earned a notable score of 760 out of 1,000, derived from evaluations across ten specific satisfaction categories. These included reported battery range, actual battery range, accessibility of charging stations, cost of ownership, convenience of home charging, aesthetics, safety features, technological advancements, quality of service, dependability, and overall driving pleasure.
Additional High-Ranking EVs in the JD Power Study
The JD Power survey indicated a high level of satisfaction among EV owners, with approximately 96% of participants expressing their willingness to purchase or lease another EV in the future. After testing the 2024 version of the Ford Mach-E, we at SlashGear found it to be impressive, which aligns with its positive reception among consumers.
However, prospective Mach-E customers may find some disappointment, as Ford is imposing nearly an additional $500 for a previously included feature starting in the 2026 model year. Other vehicles that performed well in JD Power’s satisfaction survey include the Hyundai IONIQ 6, which ranked second in the mass market category with 748 points, followed closely by the Kia EV9 SUV, which received 745 points.
In the premium EV segment, Tesla dominated the rankings, taking the top two spots. The Tesla Model 3 received an impressive score of 804 points, followed by the Model Y with 797 points. The BMW i4 also did well, landing in the third position with a score of 795 out of 1,000. For those considering an EV, these models are excellent options to explore.
